Ernst Nielsen

Biography of Ernst Nielsen, born 28 February 1924 in Haderslev, Denmark. Engineer; arrested in 1944 for resistance activities; deported to Neuengamme concentration camp in early 1945; slave labour in the Finkenwerder (Deutsche Werft) and Rothenburgsort (Bullenhuser Damm) satellite camps in Hamburg; transferred back to the Neuengamme main camp on 11 April 1945; spent a few days in the Scandinavians‘ Camp before being taken to Sweden for recuperation on the White Buses. Ernst Nielsen was an active member of the Danish survivors‘ association.
