A musician is deported Conrad Löwenherz (1896–1943) came from a Jewish family in Hamburg. He considered himself a patriot, and had volunteered to serve in the First World War. After the war, he and his wife Frieda ran a small laundry in their cramped apartment in Hamburg-Gross-Borstel. In 1925, he gradually began to establish himself as a professional musician. The couple and their three children were then able to move into a house in Hamburg-Eppendorf. Conrad Löwenherz played several instruments. He also wrote poems and plays. In 1936, he was expelled from the Reich Chamber of Music because he was Jewish, and was banned from working as a musician. In 1943, he was sent to the Fuhlsbüttel prison and later that year he was murdered at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp.
